Private credit managers will provide more than USD100 billion of financing during 2020 as economic uncertainty and low interest rates are reducing the attractiveness of traditional fixed income assets, according to research published by the Alternative Credit Council and Allen & Overy.   The ACC’s 6th ‘Financing the Economy’ research paper showed that 88 percent of firms expect to continue raising capital for their existing strategies, and 98 per cent of businesses plan to raise capital for some form of private credit strategy in 2021. Icelandic airline software vendor Dohop has raised an undisclosed growth equity round from Scottish Equity Partners (SEP).  With this investment, Dohop will be able to accelerate its plans to transform how airlines and other travel providers enable passengers to build complex itineraries as the global travel industry transforms in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Vala Capital, an entrepreneur-led venture capital firm, has launched the Vala Sustainable Growth EIS (enterprise investment scheme) targeting small companies focused on sustainable solutions. The launch comes on the back of ever-increasing demand from investors wanting funds focused on sustainable strategies. Pan-Nordic digital savings and investment platform Nordnet has listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, generating a market capitalisation based on the IPO price of SEK96 per share of around SEK24 billion. The offering attracted interest from Swedish and international institutional investors, as well as the public in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Tom Dinkelspiel, chairman of the board of Nordnet and representing the Öhman Group, commented that this listing on Nasdaq aims to democratise Nordnet’s savings and investments. Nordic Capital has previously invested in financial services companies including Resurs Bank, Nordax Bank, Bambora, Trustly and Max Matthiessen, which it backed in 2020.
AMP Capital has originated and closed a significant investment in a junior HoldCo facility secured against Peel Group’s 37.6 per cent stake in Peel Ports, one of the largest port operators in the UK, on behalf of AMP Capital Infrastructure Debt Fund IV (IDF IV). Private equity firm NorthEdge has backed the primary management buyout of Altia-ABM, a specialist investigation and covert operation software business. Nottingham and Glasgow based Altia-ABM develops specialist investigation software for government departments and law enforcement agencies in the UK, Canada and Australia.
