SS&C Technologies Holdings, is to acquire certain Algorithmics and related assets from IBM. Algorithmics provides leading risk analytic products and services for the financial services industry worldwide. The addition of Algorithmics, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter, pending the completion of customary closing conditions, will extend SS&C’s risk analytics and regulatory offering.   The acquisition adds over 200 clients, 350 employees and offices in 25 countries. Client types include banks, broker dealers, asset managers, hedge and private equity funds and service providers. If investors are losing faith in politics, fiscal policy and economic cycles, private equity is proving to be something in which they keep believing, as Elizabeth Pfeuti explains… Almost a third of investors responding to Preqin’s report into alternatives in the first half of 2019 said private equity had exceeded expectations over the past 12 months. An additional 61  per cent said they were satisfied with the outcome of their holdings. Compare that with 46  per cent of hedge fund investors whose expectations have not been met, followed by 37  per cent of investors in natural resources claiming the same.  With
Aviva Investors, the global asset management business of Aviva PLC, has entered into a development agreement with Transport for London (TfL) to build a mixed-use retail and office building opposite Liverpool Street Elizabeth Line Station. Subject to planning approval, the Eric Parry designed scheme will provide 175,000 sq ft of office and retail space over ground and ten upper floors. The deal builds on Aviva Investors’ ongoing development project with Crossrail at 101 Moorgate. Kaia Health, a digital therapeutics company, has secured USD8 million in a funding round led by Optum Ventures. Kaia Health has developed a smartphone-based approach for managing a number of chronic conditions, with a focus on musculoskeletal disorders (MSK) such as chronic back pain. Guy Pope has joined Business Growth Fund (BGF) as an investor. Pope specialises in all aspects of mid-market transactions for sectors including, retail pharmacy, engineering and exhibitions. Light Wave Dental Management (Light Wave), a portfolio company of middle market private equity firm Alpine Investors (Alpine), has partnered with dental group CarolinasDentist. CarolinasDentist currently has seven locations based in Fayetteville, NC. Following this partnership, Light Wave has grown from eight to 30 affiliate locations in Virginia and North Carolina over the past two years.   The terms of the private transaction between Light Wave and CarolinasDentist have not been disclosed.   Daniel Cohen, Vice President at Alpine Investors, says: “CarolinasDentist’s high-quality dental practice and patient-first approach makes them a highly complementary fit with Light Wave and Alpine Investors.
