Two niche property law firms, Equilaw and Thomas Legal, have secured a multi-million pound investment from BGF.
Set up in 2007, Equilaw is the UK’s only dedicated equity release legal adviser, working with homeowners and financial advisers to provide independent legal advice on the process of releasing home equity for a range of purposes including retirement planning, house improvements and care provision.

NorthEdge Capital has appointed Lloyd Williams as Portfolio Director and Maninder Minhas as Investment Manager, bolstering the private equity house’s Yorkshire base.
Williams has over 25 years’ experience covering private equity, investment banking, corporate advisory and restructuring. He was formerly the Head of Private Equity for Kuwait Finance House (Bahrain), where he was responsible for the management and exit of a USD300 million portfolio of international investments. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles with KPMG, Deutsche Bank (Singapore) and Zeus Capital.

Pathway Capital Management has formed a USD250 million customised co-investment fund in partnership with Oregon Public Employees’ Retirement Fund (OPERF), which is managed by the Oregon State Treasury.
The new fund will make systematic investments alongside OPERF’s current portfolio of private equity managers.
The new venture expands on the more than 15-year relationship between OPERF and Pathway and also represents an extension of each entity’s decades-long record of investing in the private markets.

Quadrille Capital, an independent French investment company, based in Paris and San Francisco, has made six new hires in its investment team.
In line with Quadrille Capital’s investment strategy in technology, all the new joiners have a financial background. The new appointments bring Quadrille’s team to 15, including 11 investors connected to the deployment of Quadrille Technologies fund IV, which held a first closing above EUR200 million in October 2018.

Botify, a specialist in organic search marketing, has closed USD20 million in Series B funding and is opening its second US headquarters in Seattle, Washington.
Botify’s Series B financing was led by Idinvest Partners, with participation from Ventech, bringing the company’s total funding to USD27 million. The investment will be used to fuel product innovation, customer adoption and success, and global expansion.

Nivaura, a regulated FinTech company focussed on automating the issuance and administration processes for financial instruments, has closed a strategic funding round, raising GBP20 million in seed and seed extension capital from a number of prominent partners.

ORIX Mezzanine & Private Equity (OMPE), a business unit of ORIX Corporation USA, has exited its equity investment in Perennials and Sutherland. OMPE partnered with Acacia Partners on the investment in December of 2015.
