International investment company Aser Media’s subsidiary Eleven Sports has entered into a strategic partnership in Poland with Polsat, a commercial broadcaster in the Polish market, with Polsat acquiring a significant stake in Eleven Sports.
Eleven Sports was founded in 2015 and in a competitive market place is one of the fastest growing media companies, currently delivering premium sports action to 17 million paying subscribers in seven markets – Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan and the US.

ICEYE, an Earth observation company providing synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) data, has secured EUR29 million in a Series B funding led by return investor True Ventures, and supported by Draper Network VC funds and others.
Building on ICEYE’s recent aerospace industry achievements, the Finland-based SAR data company will use the new capital to expand its custom analytics services for its growing customer base, further develop its SAR satellite technology, as well as fund additional launches of ICEYE SAR satellites.

Data from eFront, covering 4,000 funds globally, shows that Western European private equity funds showed the best returns globally, at the same time as delivering robust performance on the VC side.
Western European private equity funds achieved an overall return of 1.68x (TVPI – total value to paid in), ahead of the US on 1.56x. On an IRR (internal rate of return) basis, the figures were 14.32 per cent for Western Europe and 12.17 per cent for the US.
The performance was led by Nordic funds on 1.91x, Benelux funds on 1.85x, and the UK on 1.62x.

Intensifying market competition in an increasingly crowded space is the top concern among credit fund managers, according to new research from global law firm Ropes & Gray.
The report, ‘Driving Success: Challenges and Opportunities in Credit Fund Platforms’, analyses the responses of 100 senior level executives within US and UK-based credit funds, in the first quarter of 2018. PureClarity, a York-based company, which has developed software that helps e-commerce businesses to increase sales, has secured a GBP500,000 investment from NPIF – Mercia Equity Finance, which is managed by Mercia Fund Managers and part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund.

Foresight Group has sold Thermotech, a facilities management provider based in Stockport, to Atalian Servest Group, the international facilities management group for an undisclosed sum.
Thermotech is a hard facilities management provider, designing, installing and maintaining customised air conditioning and fire sprinkler systems for retail, commercial and residential properties. It has a number of high profile clients including M&S, John Lewis and Selfridges & Co. Foresight made its original investment of GBP2.5 million in August 2013.
