Preqin’s most recent survey finds that institutional investors view mezzanine funds as one of the most promising areas of the private debt market, leading to increased fundraising for the fund type in recent quarters. Private equity firm Calculus Capital, a leading EIS and VCT investor, has completed its third deal in two weeks, investing GBP2.5m in Cambridge-based Axol Bioscience (Axol), a provider of stem cells produced from reprogrammed human blood and tissue cells.
