NewAlpha has made the sixth investment from its dedicated fintech fund, investing in Austrian start-up in wikifolio.com to accelerate the international development of its online trading platform.
wikifolio.com is a social trading platform aimed at democratising financial investments.
The company offers an online financial platform allowing both investment professionals and private individuals to conduct their investment strategies on virtual portfolios, called wikifolios.

Private investment firm SK Capital Partners has completed the acquisition of DB Western, Inc – Texas, a technology-driven producer of formaldehyde and derivatives.
The company’s La Porte, Texas, plant is the largest merchant market plant in North America serving a variety of applications including oilfield, refineries and petrochemicals.
The company will be renamed Foremark Performance Chemicals.

A new survey of global asset managers and institutional investors, sponsored by Northern Trust, would suggest that alternatives have become mainstream. Henkel has placed a USD600 million bond in the Eurodollar market.
The bond has a term of three years and matures on 12 June 2020.
The bond pays a coupon of 2.0 per cent. The settlement is expected to take place on 12 June 2017.
The placement of the bond was significantly oversubscribed and attracted wide interest by international investors. The proceeds from the issue will be used to finance the acquisitions Henkel recently announced.

Eurazeo has launched Eurazeo Brands, a new division to invest in US and European consumer brands with global growth potential.
Jill Granoff, an executive with over 25 years’ experience building brands in the fashion, beauty and retail industries, joins the firm as CEO of Eurazeo Brands effective immediately.
She will lead the division’s investment activities and help drive growth and transformation of selected companies, leveraging her extensive operating experience and professional network. She will report directly to Eurazeo’s executive board.

CVC Capital Partners has held the closing of CVC Capital Partners VII (Fund VII), its latest flagship fund for private equity investments in Europe and North America, at its hard cap of EUR15.5 billion.
Together with the commitments of CVC and its employees, Fund VII will have over EUR16 billion of equity capital available to invest.
Steve Koltes, co-chairman of CVC, says: “We are honoured to have received such strong support from our investors across the world. We value greatly their continued trust in our ability to invest their capital well.”

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) is to acquire a minority stake in Russian gold producer PJSC Polyus.
The purchase will be carried out alongside an investment by Chinese investment company Fosun Group, which is acquiring of 10 per cent stake in the company.
The price per share payable by RDIF at completion is equal to price per share for Fosun transaction.
Following completion of the RDIF transaction, RDIF will own 354,095 of the ordinary shares in Polyus. The completion of the RDIF transaction is subject to certain conditions, including the completion of the Fosun transaction.
