Vortex, a European renewable energy platform managed by the private equity arm of EFG Hermes, is to acquire 100 per cent of a 365 MW operational solar PV power portfolio in the UK owned by TerraForm Power.
The transaction is valued at an enterprise value of circa GBP470 million and comprises 24 operational assets, representing one of the largest portfolios of solar PV in the UK.
The closing of the transaction is subject to the completion of certain conditions precedents.

DW Healthcare Partners (DWHP), a healthcare-focused private equity firm, has promoted Aly Champsi to managing director and partner.
“Since Aly’s arrival at our firm in 2014, he has been an integral part of our investment team,” says DWHP founder and managing partner, Andrew Carragher. “We are excited to acknowledge his dedication and look forward to his continued leadership in this new position.”
Champsi will be responsible for overseeing due diligence, structuring and execution of investment opportunities from the DWHP Toronto office. He will continue to serve on three boards in DWHP’s portfolio.

Exemplar Healthcare, a portfolio company of mid-market private equity firm Agilitas, has appointed Dr Mark Jackson as chairman, with immediate effect.
Exemplar is a provider of nurse-led residential care for adults with disabilities.
Jackson worked for many years as a GP, and as a GP practice lead, before founding and growing his own company. He has also served on the boards of a number of well-known companies in the health and care sectors, including several years as deputy chairman of Allied Healthcare.

Well over half (60 per cent) of limited partners (LPs) globally plan to increase or maintain the amount of capital they have invested in PE funds in offshore locations in the next five years, according to research commissioned by offshore law firm Mourant Ozannes.
The research, which polled 260 limited and general partners across the world, also found that when it comes to mid-shore jurisdictions, 51 per cent of LPs expect to increase or maintain investments.
These survey outcomes are supported by the billions of dollars raised from global investors in 2016 and into 2017 by private equity mega-funds
Royal London Asset Management has selected the Confluence’s Unity NXT AIFMD Annex IV transparency reporting solution to support the company’s growing alternative investment fund business.
The Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) regulation covers hedge funds, private equity, real estate and other Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFMs) in the European Union. Previously of counsel with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, Tod will support Gibson Dunn’s existing EMEA private investment funds practice.

Principal lender Signature Private Finance has appointed Gary Playle as business development manager to support brokers in London and the South.
It follows appointments to strengthen the company’s reach in the North and Midlands.
