Technology investment firm Asenqua Ventures has closed its fourth investment fund, raising USD125 million which will be reinvested in capital efficient companies with a minimum revenue of USD10 million in niche technology sectors.
Fund IV will target investments in semiconductors, display technology, software, medical technology, wireless communications, and internet infrastructure, cloud computing, ecommerce and networking.
The managing directors of Asenqua, Steve Ross and Jason Yi, are using the USD125 million in funding to aggressively invest in new opportunities.

Liberty Media has agreed to acquire Formula One, the global motorsports business, from a consortium of sellers led by private equity firm CVC Capital Partners in a USD8 billion deal.
Liberty Media owns interests in a broad range of media, communications and entertainment businesses.
These interests are attributed to three tracking stock groups: the Liberty SiriusXM Group, the Liberty Braves Group, and the Liberty Media Group.

Seedrs has published its first ever portfolio update which reveals that for the first time, on a fair value basis, equity crowdfunding through the platform has produced better annualised rates of return (IRRs) than most other asset classes.
The update looks at the characteristics and performance of the 253 deals funded on Seedrs platform between its launch in July 2012 and the end of 2015.
It finds a platform-wide IRR of 14.44 per cent, which increases 41.87 per cent when impacts of SEIS and EIS tax reliefs are taken into account.

Ridgemont Equity Partners, a middle market private equity investor, has closed a growth equity investment in Nolan Transportation Group (NTG), a service provider in the freight brokerage industry.
Ridgemont has agreed to partner with NTG’s management team, who will remain the majority shareholders, to support NTG’s growth.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Paul Hastings has advised Jacobs Engineering Group on the acquisition of the patent rights for BAYQIK quasi-isothermal sulfuric acid converter technology and other related technology from Bayer.
BAYQIK technology enables more efficient conversion of process gas with high SO2 concentrations.
Bayer developed, piloted and commercialised the technology over the past 10 years.
A full-scale installation based on the technology has operated successfully for seven years.

HIG Europe, the European arm of global private equity firm HIG Capital, has acquired a controlling interest in Texbond, a producer of specialty polypropylene nonwovens.
Founded in Rovereto in the Trentino region of northern Italy in 1988, Texbond specialises in nonwovens for specialty applications in the hygienic, medical, construction, automotive, household and agricultural industries.
Terms were not disclosed.
Texbond founder and chairman Giuseppe Gaspari and the chief executive Cristina Parisi have invested in the transaction alongside HIG Europe, providing management continuity as well as technical and strategic expertise to support the growth plans.

Graycliff Partners, an independent investment firm focusing on middle market private equity and mezzanine investments, has invested in A-1 Machine Manufacturing, a manufacturer and integrator of machined components and systems to the flat panel display equipment, semiconductor equipment and general industrial end-markets.
Headquartered in Santa Clara, California and with additional operations in San Jose, California and Incheon, Korea, A-1 specialises in medium to large format machining, assembly and full system integration.
The company’s products range from single components to full-scale, turn-key advanced manufacturing equipment and systems.

Venture capital firm e.ventures has appointed Arnulf Keese as general partner in the firm’s Berlin office.
Keese joins European partners Andreas Haug, Christian Leybold and Bernardo Hernandez, in addition to North American partners Mathias Schilling and Tom Gieselmann.
Keese, the former vice president and general manager of PayPal DE/AT/CH, brings over 20 years of experience in digital commerce and payments to the e.ventures partnership. Prior to his executive role at PayPal, he held senior roles at Bertelsmann, AOL, giropay and online auction group QXL Ricardo.de.

Medical materials manufacturer Camstent has raised GBP850,000 from a combination of existing and new investors in its latest funding round.
Thanks to interest in the company’s patented bacteria-phobic polymer coatings, the initial investment target of GBP300,000 was extended, nearly trebling the total amount raised during the round.
Currently one in 20 inpatients suffer from a hospital acquired infection (HAI), leading to the loss of thousands of lives globally and adding to costs for healthcare providers.
Government research found that a 10 per cent reduction in infections could save the NHS GBP100 million per annum.

Bedell Cristin has appointed Kate Ovenden as managing partner in the firm’s Guernsey office.
An experienced corporate, banking and financial services lawyer who spent 10 years working at City law firm Withers, Ovenden (pictured) became a partner of Bedell Cristin in 2010, having returned to Guernsey to join the firm in 2006.
Ovenden also has extensive experience in advising all types of clients on banking, funds, corporate and commercial matters.
