Law firm Martin LLP has appointed John Capetta to lead its private equity practice group.
He joins the firm from Kelley Drye & Warren where he started his career and was chair of the firm-wide private equity practice group.

Ares Capital Corporation’s board of directors has named Michael J Arougheti as co-chairman of the board and promoted three of its longstanding senior executive officers.
Arougheti has served as a director since 2009 and has also served as chief executive officer of Ares Capital Corporation since May 2013 and prior to that as president since its IPO in 2004.
Arougheti currently serves as president of Ares Management, an alternative asset manager, and will continue to serve as a senior partner and co-head of the direct lending group, as a member of Ares Management’s board of directors and management committee
Palatine Private Equity and Bridgepoint Development Capital (BDC) have completed the sale of Hallmark Hotels to Topland.
Palatine and BDC first invested in 2007, each investing GBP9.4m for a combined 78 per cent stake in the business. The sale achieves a 2x return for the private equity firms.

Roppel has more than 25 years of experience with complex, cross-border transactions in Asia, Europe and the Americas, particularly in China, where he practiced for six years.

Rcapital, the London-based private investor, has funded its portfolio company City Motor Holdings in the acquisition of the Marshall Roebuck Peugeot car dealership in Newbury.
The site, now known as City Peugeot, joins the City Motor Holdings existing portfolio of 11 dealerships in Basingstoke, Newbury and Reading.
The acquisition marks the latest phase of expansion plans for City Motor Holdings with further growth planned over the next 18 months. The City Peugeot site is located adjacent to Gowrings Ford, one of three Ford dealerships in the group.

The first half of 2014 marked the busiest period to date for the secondary market for private equity, real estate, infrastructure and hedge funds, according to the Setter Capital Volume Report – H1 2014.

Private equity firm SFW Capital Partners has completed the sale of MD Buyline, a provider of healthcare analytics and supply chain spend intelligence capabilities to healthcare providers and vendors, to TractManager, a portfolio company of Arsenal Capital Partners.
SFW acquired Dallas-based MD Buyline in 2011 and supported CEO Satin Mirchandani and the company’s management team in a wide range of strategic growth initiatives, including enhancing and extending its product lines, investing in the company’s sales, marketing and account management functions, and strengthening the company’s business infrastructure.

ACON Investments has held the final closing of the firm’s most recent Latin America middle market private equity fund, ACON Latin America Opportunities Fund IV, with total commitments of USD515 million.
In May 2014, the firm also closed on the issuance of MXD2 billion (approximately USD150 million) of Mexican publicly traded trust certificates, specifically Certificados de Capital de Desarrollo or Capital Development Certificates (CKD).
The fund, together with the CKD and co-investment appetite from many of ACON's limited partners, represents well over USD600 million of potential capital for pan-regional mid-market private equity investments.

Medley has appointed Peter McLaughlin as managing director on the firm’s direct lending team.
McLaughlin will play a key role in further developing the firm's relationships with private equity firms and corporate borrowers.
McLaughlin brings 23 years of experience to Medley having worked most recently as a managing director at CIFC and with Longroad Asset Management where he was head of origination.
Prior to Longroad, McLaughlin worked with Gottex Middle Market Debt Fund, Contrarian Capital Management, Golden Tree Asset Management, Wells Fargo Foothill and JP Morgan.
