As Asia's free-market economies mature, general partners (GPs) need to change the way they work with their portfolio companies, according to a survey by AlixPartners. The report, entitled "Building Better Businesses; A Survey Report on Private Equity Value Creation in Asia," says that doing more hands-on work to increase portfolio companies' operational earnings, as measured by EBITDA, is potentially becoming a key differentiator.

Nasuni, a provider of enterprise storage as a service to global organisations, has secured USD10 million in new venture capital financing. Previous investors Flybridge Capital Partners, North Bridge Venture Partners and Sigma Partners, as well as a strategic investor, all participated in this extension of Nasuni's C round.   The new financing brings the total funds raised by Nasuni to USD53 million.   The new funds will fuel Nasuni's triple-digit growth through increased investments in engineering, sales and marketing. Startupbootcamp FinTech has partnered with three more financial services organisations – financial services outsourcing provider arvato Financial Solutions, investment firm Route 66 Venture, and Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo. The success rate among small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) applying for finance has risen to 80 per cent in 2014 up from 71 per cent in 2013, according to research by Albion Ventures.
