The deployment of private equity capital in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region reached healthy levels in the first four months of 2014 despite a hiccup in April, says S&P Capital IQ in a new report.
General partners in EMEA deployed EUR3.1bn more capital from January to March compared to the same period last year.
However, deal volume in April was only EUR4.2bn versus EUR9.5bn in April 2013, leaving the aggregate for new entry deals at EUR23.2bn, or 4.5 per cent lower than the same period last year, according to the latest quarterly EMEA Private Equity Market
Segulah IV is to acquire Lokaltidningen Mitt i from VLT, part of Stampen Media Group.
Mitt i publishes 31 local newspapers in the Stockholm region, from Vallentuna in the north to Haninge in the south.

Dunedin, the UK mid-market buyout house, has invested in the GBP69 million management buyout (MBO) of EV Offshore Limited.
The company’s early growth was funded by global energy-focused investor Lime Rock Partners.
The deal, directly originated by Dunedin, employed the firm’s trademark DebtBridge solution.

Private equity firm Vector Capital has appointed Matthew Blodgett as a managing director.
Blodgett joins Vector having spent almost 14 years working with technology companies, including more than a decade as a technology investor.
He was most recently a partner at North Bridge Growth Equity and prior to that worked at Alta Communications and Bear Stearns.

Private equity firm Greenbriar Equity Group has closed Greenbriar Equity Fund III on USD1.1 billion, the firm’s largest fund to date.
The fund’s broad range of limited partners includes foundations, university endowments, family offices, insurance companies, pension plans and other institutional investors.
