Following a disappointing year in 2013 there are increasing signs that the German private equity market could see a significant upturn in the months ahead.
Relevant indicators include good business prospects, moderate company valuations and a significant improvement in the options for using capital leverage.
Those are the key findings of the latest private equity panel survey, which is conducted three times a year by CMS Hasche Sigle and FINANCE magazine. Some 40 private equity (PE) firms provide anonymous assessments of the market for the survey.

Healthcare-focused private equity firm Enhanced Equity Funds (EEF) has appointed Matthew Thompson as a vice president.

As part of its quarterly Inflation Report, the Bank of England (BoE) has decided to expand its use of macroeconomic variables in its presentation of forward guidance. The previous 7% unemployment rate threshold would have been breached in the coming months, which has prompted the Bank to re-assess its communications strategy.

National private equity firm Lariat Partners has formed Ecoserv, an integrated environmental cleaning and waste disposal provider, by merging Newpark Environmental Services with Offshore Cleaning Systems (OCS).
Kenny DesOrmeaux, founder and CEO of Los Angeles-based OCS, will become CEO of Ecoserv, which will be headquartered in Lafayette, LA and operate out of 14 locations throughout the Gulf Coast and Permian Basin of West Texas.

International group BOS has acquired automotive supplier etm (engineering technologie marketing GmbH).
Subject to approval from the competition authorities, the Schönbrunn site and employees will become part of BOS, which currently has 17 facilities worldwide.
Going forward, etm will continue to be managed and developed as an independent firm. The purchase price was not disclosed.
A team from CMS Hasche Sigle led by lead partner Dr Jörg Lips advised etm on all legal aspects of the sale.

The States of Guernsey has responded to demands for limited liability partnership structures (LLPs) and has approved draft legislation which is expected to receive Royal Assent and come into force before July 2014.
