Katherine Woodthorpe is retiring from her role as chief executive of The Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCAL).
Woodthorpe says that after seven years in the role, the time is right for her to pursue fresh challenges.

FNB Capital Partners has launched the Small Business Investment Company (SBIC), which closed in May 2013 and received its licence from the US Small Business Administration to operate FNBCP as an SBIC on 21 August.
Along with its initial capital raise and SBA leverage, FNBCP has deployable capital of USD175m. FNBCP’s investors include several high net worth individuals, a pension fund and six regional banks, including anchor investor FNB Corporation.
FNBCP, which exceeded its initial target of USD150m, will be managed by Tecum Capital Management.

Summit Partners is to sell Actix Ltd, an independent software provider in mobile optimisation, to Amdocs for approximately USD120m in cash, subject to customary closing conditions.
Bill McHale, chief executive of Actix, says: “Summit Partners’ expertise in the mobile telecommunications and software sectors enabled Actix to develop the ActixOne platform. The optimization space has been undergoing significant changes, and Summit helped the Actix management team become a significant vendor in this dynamic, growing market. These factors allowed Actix to realise its potential and become part of the much larger Amdocs family.”

Actis, the pan-emerging markets private equity firm, has acquired 60 per cent of Atlantic Energias Renovaveis, a Brazilian renewable energy company, for an initial commitment of USD169m through a primary transaction.
Actis will be joining existing shareholders Pattac (24 per cent) and Servinoga (16 per cent), the co-founders of Atlantic and experienced infrastructure investors.
Atlantic is a renewable energy platform that has 220 MW of projects with long-term PPAs and a proprietary land bank with 1.8 GW of wind potential. Besides the USD169m initial commitment, Actis expects to invest a further USD100m into Atlantic over the next five years

The individual investors include Turkish entrepreneur Sina Afra, chief executive and chairman of Markafoni and former European director of M&A for eBay.
