As part of its efforts to strengthen its relationship with the Chinese fund industry, the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) has added a section in Chinese (Mandarin) to its website.
The section contains important basic information about the Luxembourg investment fund sector and regulation, and how Luxembourg can support Chinese asset managers develop globally.
Four accompanying brochures are also available in Chinese on the following topics:
• The benefits of Luxembourg as a domicile for investment funds;
• How to set up a fund in Luxembourg;

Dealogic has completed the acquisition of Junction RDS (JRDS).
Founded in 2005, JRDS provides ownership analysis of UK listed companies and combines specialist research by skilled staff with proprietary analytical software.

Two former directors, Howard Jenkins and Trevor Tanner, have returned to Simbec backed by the new Wales Life Sciences Investment Fund managed by Arthurian.
This new team has acquired the company from its former parent the Canadian Altasciences Group, to make it once more a totally independent Welsh company.
This is the initial investment for Wales’ first-ever dedicated Life Sciences Fund whose launch was announced by Professor Sir Chris Evans at BioWales in March. It marks a momentous stage in Simbec’s history spanning almost four decades. Merthyr Tydfil-based Simbec Research employs around 90 staff.

Alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group has added a six-person international energy investment team to its growing energy platform, expanding the firm’s ability to invest in a full range of energy assets around the world.
Marcel van Poecke, an energy investor, will lead the effort, collaborating with Carlyle’s established investment teams. Van Poecke and the international energy team begin their duties in early May.

Five packaging companies in North America and Europe intend to combine to operate as one firm under the banner of Exopack Holdings Sarl, a new Luxembourg company.
The combined business will have 63 plants, 8,650 employees and aggregate revenues of more than USD2.5bn, making it the sixth-largest plastics packaging company in the world.

Management consulting firm AT Kearney has appointed Robert Haas to lead the firm’s private equity practice in the Americas.

Private equity firm HIG Capital has completed the acquisition of Caraustar Industries, a provider of recycled paperboard and related products. Caraustar was majority owned by private investment funds managed by Wayzata Investment Partners.
Headquartered in Austell, Georgia, Caraustar is one of North America’s largest integrated manufacturers and converters of 100 per cent recycled paperboard and converted paperboard products. JTC Group and Kensington Trust Group (KTG) have formed a strategic alliance that was agreed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in March.
The alliance creates a global offering of trust, fiduciary and corporate services and fund administration.

Nexus Group, a provider of private equity in Peru, has held the final closing of its second institutional fund, NG Capital Partners II.
NG reached the fund’s hard cap of USD600m, exceeding its USD500m fundraising target.
The fund will invest primarily in Peru with the flexibility to execute investments in the Andean region.
