Peak Ridge Capital’s venture capital funds, the Avolte Venture Partners Midwest Fund, has made an investment in New River Technologies, a Wisconsin-based technology company that allows financial institutions to aggregate demand for purchased items. New River develops a web-based software transaction platform that helps financial institutions, specifically banks, aggregate demand for items such as office products or collector coins, reducing cost and providing the power to allocate resources at the branch level. In addition, those items, and any products sold through their branches, are inventoried and tracked to their customers. Currently, many banks use basic spreadsheets and other low-tech methods

Raven Russia is an investment company specialising in commercial real estate in Russia. KPS Capital Partners’ portfolio company North American Breweries has acquired Independent Brewers United through an indirect wholly owned subsidiary. The acquisition is the fourth by North American Breweries since its formation. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Independent Brewers United is one of the largest craft brewers in the US and its Magic Hat brand has been one of the fastest-growing craft brewers every year since 2005. The company produces, markets and sells the complete line of the Pyramid, Magic Hat and MacTarnahan’s brand families of beer. It operates three breweries and six retail locations located in Vermont,
An affiliate of Los Angeles-based private equity firm Aurora Capital Group has reorganised and acquired a majority ownership position in Lexington Precision. Lexington manufactures tight-tolerance rubber components for use in medical, automotive and industrial applications. Medical products include injection sites for intravenous feeding systems, plunger tips for syringes and seals for minimally-invasive surgical instruments. Automotive products include seals for wiring systems and insulators for original equipment and aftermarket ignition wire sets. Channel Islands law firm Carey Olsen has advised Bellzone Mining on its listing on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange. Bellzone is a Jersey registered holding company for a group of companies with large scale iron ore deposits and exploration assets in Guinea. The company, which was founded in November 2007, aims to become a significant iron ore producer in Western Africa. Proceeds raised from the placing accompanying the listing are to be used further to develop its assets and complete the long lead stages of a bankable feasibility study at its Kalia Iron Project in Guinea.
Research and consulting firm Carbon360 has launched the Fund Administration Market, a service designed to aid fund managers with the selection of fund administrators. The free service matches fund managers with the best-qualified administrators for their needs. It also aims to reduce the cost of search and implementation, and minimise the noise made during a typical selection process. Upon registration, managers are requested to complete one service worksheet listing their requirements and preferences regarding administration services. Maven Capital Partners has completed two exits on behalf of Capital for Enterprise Fund A. The GBP75m Capital for Enterprise Fund is a government backed initiative launched in 2009 to help small to medium sized enterprises gain access to the financial support required to bridge the funding gap caused by the credit crisis. Maven has completed 17 investments since August 2009 across the UK, investing around GBP26m to date. Private equity firm SunTx Capital Partners acquired a majority interest in Carolina Beer & Beverage, an independent contract beverage manufacturer based in Mooresville, North Carolina. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Carolina Beer & Beverage was founded in 1997 by J. Michael Smith and John Stritch. The duo acquired the rights and formula to the Carolina Blonde and Cottonwood Ales beer brands. Bhatia brings to Jefferies more than ten years of investment banking experience, including five years in the equity capital market groups at Piper Jaffray and Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he originated, structured and executed over USD3bn of privately negotiated equity and equity-linked transactions for public and private clients.
