Private equity firm Trive Capital, along with strategic operating partner, SideKick Operators, has formed OWL Services (OWL), a sales, installation, programme management, and service provider to petroleum and clean energy companies across North America. The Company is the result of the recent acquisition of seven businesses including, WildcoPES, CBE, Crompco, e-Structure Solutions, Great Dane Petroleum, JBI Electrical Systems and Oscar W Larson Company (Oscar Larson). Oscar Larson’s management team, staff and technicians, and technology platform, combined with the service offering of the six other companies, are the foundation of the OWL Services platform. Trind VC, a seed-stage venture fund based in Tallinn with team members in Helsinki and Munich, has closed its second fund with €55 million in capital commitments. Trind VC aims to invest into 30–40 startups with proven traction in four years. Private equity and special situations investment manager Sandton Capital Partners (Sandton) has expanded its London team with the appointment of Tsvi Lewis. Tsvi joins as an investment manager and will work alongside Matt Meehan, head of Sandton Europe. He will provide transaction support on new investment opportunities and specific projects within the existing Sandton portfolio.   Having begun his career at Deloitte, Tsvi gained experience in Restructuring, Business Turnaround, and Special Situations M&A across a range of sectors covering both SMEs and larger corporates. Pembroke VCT plc, a venture capital trust focused on backing early-stage businesses led by founders and management teams, has invested £2.5 million in ethical glasses company Bloobloom as part of a £3.7 million fundraise. Investing alongside Pembroke VCT are DMG Ventures and several angel investors.  Established in 2018 by brothers Abbas and Fares Manai, Bloobloom is disrupting the glasses market by selling premium spectacles and sunglasses at a fair price, via a seamless buying experience. Private equity firm PAI Partners (PAI) has appointed Winston Song as Partner. Song will lead PAI’s consumer activities in North America. He is based in New York, and joins as the firm expands its US presence and builds on its history and expertise in the consumer sector. Song’s career spans nearly two decades. The last twelve months have seen a sharp rise in the proportion of private equity managers addressing climate change in their ESG policies, according to a new study by LGT Capital Partners. 
Operations-focused private equity firm Industrial Opportunity Partners (IOP), has closed its fourth fund, Industrial Opportunity Partners IV (Fund IV), with $650 million of committed capital.  IOP achieved its hard cap for Fund IV, exceeding Fund IV’s original target of $600 million. Investors include university endowments, insurance companies, pension plans, and funds-of-funds. Founded in 2005, IOP focuses on acquiring and overseeing middle-market manufacturing and value-added distribution businesses with revenues typically between $50 million and $500 million. Babcock International has signed a legally binding agreement with UK-based investment firm, Inspirit Capital to divest part of its Civil Training business, a leading provider of apprenticeships and adult education in the UK.  The transaction is expected to complete later this calendar year once certain completion conditions have been satisfied, including approval from the industry regulator. Tech24, backed by HCI Equity Partners, has acquired Allied Service Group (Allied), a provider of repair services, preventative maintenance and installation for foodservice and HVAC equipment, servicing restaurants, grocery stores and institutions in Southwest Tennessee and Northern Mississippi. Tech24 is a provider of repair and maintenance services for foodservice and commercial HVAC equipment.  Allied is Tech24’s twelfth add-on acquisition in the highly fragmented foodservice repair and maintenance market. DWS has added Dr Peter Brodehser to its infrastructure investment team with immediate effect. Brodehser, most recently Head of Infrastructure Investments at Talanx subsidiary Ampega, will build up and lead an infrastructure investment team based in Frankfurt as DWS expands and strengthens its activities in Germany and on the European continent.  The German team will focus on investments in the field of renewable energies and other investments in infrastructure utility services.
