Nick Triantos joins Ignition Partners as venture partner

Nick Triantos has joined early-stage business software venture capital firm Ignition Partners as a venture partner in the firm’s new Los Altos office.

Triantos will use his background in venture capital and technology to identify new strategic investments for the firm in the areas of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and VR/AR for the enterprise.

Triantos joins Ignition from SRI International, the research firm behind inventions such as Siri, the computer mouse and the ARPANET, where he was managing director of the ventures team. During his time at SRI, Triantos focused on software research labs, covering areas such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, cybersecurity, speech recognition and natural language understanding.

“We became increasing fans of Nick through two of our private unconference meetings, where, in a room full of stellar domain experts, he repeatedly distinguished himself, voicing many of the most useful technology-market insights of the group,” says Nick Sturiale, managing partner for Ignition. “We look forward to his joining us and providing his perspectives and value to our portfolio companies.”

Triantos previously co-founded two companies and served as a CEO twice. Triantos has also worked for six start-ups, raising more than USD10 million from investors. Earlier in his career, Triantos worked in venture capital as a partner at Quantum Technology Partners, and a board director of Sand Hill Angels. He has invested in over a dozen companies, achieving a roughly three-times return on invested cash, plus a portfolio of numerous thriving and growing companies.

“I’ve known Nick (Sturiale), Frank and John for years and was always struck by their low ego, high impact service model for early stage entrepreneurs,” says Triantos. “There is so much happening in the areas of AI and machine learning. I look forward to focusing on this area, and am excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work with great entrepreneurs."
