A team from Noerr, led by partner Till Kosche, has advised South Korean tyre manufacturer Hankook tyre on its takeover of Reifen-Müller, an independent German tyre-supply company.
Hankook says the takeover will strengthen its global distribution system.
The transaction, which is pending subject to clearance by antitrust authorities, includes acquisition of 100 per cent of the shares of not only the distribution company Reifen-Müller KG but also Reifen-Müller GmbH & Co. Runderneuerungswerk KG, Reifen-Müller’s current executive management will remain in office.
Founded in 1966, the company currently has more than 700 employees and operates 44 of its own service centres in Germany that sell tyres for passenger vehicles, lorries and motorcycles. Hankook tyre will use the Reifen-Müller service centres as a strategic base to expand its distribution network. With its approximately 22,000 employees, Hankook tyre is one of the world’s leading tyre manufacturers.
