NorthEdge adds to Yorkshire team

NorthEdge Capital has appointed Lloyd Williams as Portfolio Director and Maninder Minhas as Investment Manager, bolstering the private equity house’s Yorkshire base.

Williams has over 25 years’ experience covering private equity, investment banking, corporate advisory and restructuring. He was formerly the Head of Private Equity for Kuwait Finance House (Bahrain), where he was responsible for the management and exit of a USD300 million portfolio of international investments. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles with KPMG, Deutsche Bank (Singapore) and Zeus Capital.

Minhas joins the Northern-focussed private equity house from Deloitte, where he was an Associate Director having spent six years in the M&A team. During this time, Maninder Minhas advised on a wide variety of transactions, including disposals, acquisitions and buyouts for privately-owned, private equity-backed and listed businesses.

The appointments come in a busy period of activity for the firm’s Yorkshire office, which saw three transactions worth over GBP65 million completed in 2018. Deals included supporting the MBOs of Platinum Stairlifts, a designer and manufacturer of stairlifts, and engineering tooling supplier Cutwel Limited, both based in West Yorkshire, and investing in Harrogate-based cloud services specialist, iPortalis.

Tom Rowley, Director and Head of Yorkshire and the North East at NorthEdge, says: “Yorkshire is a hotbed for entrepreneurial businesses, with ambitious management teams increasingly looking towards private equity investment to help them achieve their growth potential.

“Both Lloyd and Maninder bring with them a wealth of experience that will support us in adding to our regional portfolio, as well as adding significant value to our existing businesses. I look forward to working closely with both of them over the coming months.”
