Menlo Park, California-based Northern Light Venture Capital, a China-focused venture capital firm, has announced the promotion of two investment professionals based in China.
Elton Jiang (pictured) has been promoted to managing director and Lixin Li to venture partner.
"Northern Light congratulates Elton and Lixin in their newly expanded roles," says Feng Deng, managing director of NLVC. "We look forward to their valuable contributions as partners in the firm. Both share a common vision and culture and will play a critical role in leading NLVC as it grows into a world-class venture capital firm in China."
Jiang joined NLVC in 2006 and focuses on investments in the consumer services, software, internet and mobile arenas. He previously served as senior vice president. With years of experience in venture capital investments in China, Jiang leads many of the firm’s investments and currently serves on the board of Kaixin, Derbysoft Holding, Mengyang Company, Escaads Media Group, Velo International, and Gogo. He is also actively involved in Nurien and Advanced Solar Power.
Prior to joining NLVC, Jiang co-founded and directed e-Rainbow’s wireless advertising business, and worked for The Hina Group as an investment banker helping technology companies in fundraising and cross-border M&A activities. He began his VC career in 1998 at IDG VC with an ongoing career focus in the technology, telecommunications, and media sectors. While at Shanghai Information Investment, he was involved in strategic investment partnerships with key multinational firms.
"The cornerstones of any successful VC firm are its team and vision," says Jiang. "At NLVC, it is the collaboration, conviction, and innovation of the management team that has continued to add significant value to many Chinese companies to help them succeed."
Li joined NLVC in 2007 and specializes in the areas of new energy, new material, advanced technology, and consumer goods investments. Previously serving in the role of senior adviser, Li brings 17 years of experience in corporate management, startup ventures, and investments to NLVC. While at Beida Jadebird Group, Li successfully led the merger and acquisition of a Shenzhen publicly-listed company focused on processing and recording. As the firm’s chief executive and director, he reorganised the company’s operations and achieved steady profitability within nine years.
Li says: "I am honoured to grow with NLVC. In just a few years, we’ve been able to help many Chinese entrepreneurs grow their ideas to enterprises. As venture partner, I’m excited to build on many years of experience and resources to the firm."
