Northleaf opens new Tokyo office

Northleaf Capital Partners, a global private markets investment firm, has opened a new office in Tokyo, Japan, the ninth location in the firm’s global network complementing its existing Asia-Pacific presence in Melbourne, Australia.

Northleaf Capital Partners (Northleaf), a global private markets investment firm, has opened a new office in Tokyo, Japan, the ninth location in the firm’s global network, complementing its existing Asia-Pacific presence in Melbourne, Australia.

The Tokyo office will be led by Jeff Pentland, a founding partner of Northleaf and member of the firm’s Investment Committee. 

Pentland has relocated from Northleaf’s Toronto office to Tokyo, where he lived and worked while with the law firm of Hamada & Matsumoto (now Mori Hamada & Matsumoto) earlier in his career.

Across its private equity, private credit and infrastructure strategies, Northleaf has raised more than $3 billion over the past 12 months, bringing total capital commitments raised to date to $21 billion.
