Northleaf Venture Catalyst Fund commits USD10m to Version One Ventures

Northleaf Venture Catalyst Fund (NVCF) has made a USD10 million commitment to Vancouver-based Version One Ventures II, an early-stage fund investing in high-potential internet, SaaS and mobile entrepreneurs.

“We are pleased to be an anchor institutional investor in one of Canada’s most promising venture capital funds,” says Ian Carew, director of Northleaf Capital Partners, the manager of NVCF. “The investment in Version One furthers NVCF’s strategy of investing in best-in-class Canada-based venture capital and growth equity funds. Version One’s founder Boris Wertz is one of the most well-respected early-stage technology investors in North America and has served as a local champion in the Canadian market – which positions Version One for continued success both in Canada and globally.”

“We are thrilled to have NVCF as a lead investor in our second fund and look forward to a long and successful partnership,” says Boris Wertz, founding partner of Version One Ventures. “NVCF’s support will enable us to continue to invest in leading Seed and Series A opportunities in SaaS, online marketplaces/platforms, healthcare and more – and deliver strong returns for our investors.”

NVCF’s primary objective is to generate attractive, long term returns for its investors and, by so doing, clearly demonstrate the significant opportunities available through investment in Canadian venture capital and growth equity funds and companies.
