Oaktree Capital Management, LP (Oaktree) has appointed James Lindsay, CFA, to its European Capital Formation team as a Managing Director, Head of UK Institutional, with responsibility for business development across the UK institutional market. He will be based in London and report to Peter Preisler, Head of Europe and Africa, Capital Formation, at Oaktree.
Lindsay joins from Natixis Investment Management where he most recently served as Director, Head of UK Corporate DB and Insurance. He originally joined in 2020 as head of UK institutional sales, following his tenure at Western Asset Management where he held the same role.
Earlier in his career, he spent six years as a client Director at Legal & General Investment Management, managing relationships with large UK DB and DC pension schemes across asset classes including LDI, fixed income, equities, and real assets. He has also held positions at Mesirow Financial and JP Morgan.
Lindsay’s appointment follows the hiring of Ethan Allen in June last year, who joined as a vice president in the capital formation group, focused on the development of the UK institutional client business. He joined Oaktree in 2025 from Ninety One, where he spent 10 years as a manager in the UK institutional client group and served as a private debt product specialist.
