Chicago-based OCA Ventures, an early stage technology venture capital firm established by the founders of derivatives trading firm O’Connor & Associates, has announced the final close

Chicago-based OCA Ventures, an early stage technology venture capital firm established by the founders of derivatives trading firm O’Connor & Associates, has announced the final close of its second partnership with USD50.1m of total capital commitments.

OCA Ventures II will continue the firm’s focus on investment in companies with dramatic growth potential, primarily in core technology platforms and technology-enabled business and consumer services companies, with emphasis on the financial services and for-profit education sectors.

OCA Ventures has also announced the promotion of Eddie Lou to general partner and the hiring of Joseph Dwyer as a senior associate.

OCA Ventures II was launched with the support of its anchor limited partner, the O’Connor Partners Investment Office, and raised additional funds from institutional investors such as the Illinois Technology Development Fund, the Iowa Capital Investment Corporation, a US insurance company, several funds of funds, family offices and individual investors.

‘It is an honour to be able to invest capital on behalf of so many talented institutional and prominent individual investors that share a common goal to fund next-generation technology entrepreneurs,’ says chief executive and managing partner James Dugan.

‘OCA Ventures’ role is to support world-class entrepreneurs in the pursuit of revolutionary commercial enterprises, and we are grateful to have more than doubled our assets under management during tumultuous market conditions.’

OCA Ventures manages more than USD90m in capital commitments and has invested in 26 companies since it began investing in 1999.
