Ogier to offer private funds within new wealth planning service

Ogier, an ‘offshore magic circle’ provider of legal and fiduciary services, is launching a new personalised wealth planning service for ultra-high net worth individuals and family business

Ogier, an ‘offshore magic circle’ provider of legal and fiduciary services, is launching a new personalised wealth planning service for ultra-high net worth individuals and family businesses that will notably include the formation and administration of private investment funds.

The Ogier Private Wealth team will offer a range of tailored solutions including the establishment and ongoing administration of trusts and private trust companies, the creation and administration of employer-funded structures, real estate advice, and fund formation and administration.

‘Ogier has an outstanding track record in the provision of legal and administration services to the private client market,’ says group chairman Jonathan White. ‘Through the launch of Ogier Private Wealth we are bringing together a number of related services and forming a dedicated team that will focus on providing our clients with the widest range of wealth planning solutions.’

Ogier Private Wealth will comprise 20 lawyers and 50 professional administrators in the group’s nine offices, a network serving all time zones. The group has offices in the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Ireland, Jersey, New Zealand, the UK and Uruguay.

Philip Norman, a partner and head of private client administration, says: ‘We have seen an increasing number of individuals and families with significant wealth creating new structures, often involving a private trust company utilising a number of jurisdictions.

‘[These are] either for succession planning purposes or for the receipt of contributions from their employers, as well as Eastern European and Middle Eastern clients investing into western markets through real estate or fund vehicles. A significant number of these clients express a strong preference to work with an independent trust company, and we believe Ogier Private Wealth fulfils that need.’

Ogier has more than 800 professional and support staff and provides advice on all aspects of BVI, Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey law. Corporate and finance law and associated fiduciary services form the core of the group’s business, principally in the areas of banking, corporate and commercial, investment funds, private clients, real estate, and structured finance. Ogier has also extensive employee benefits, litigation and insolvency and restructuring practices.
