OMERS has announced the appointment of Alexander Fraser as Executive Vice President & Global Head of Private Equity, effective March 17, succeeding Michael Graham, who retired earlier this year.
He will be based in New York, reporting directly to Ralph Berg, Chief Investment Officer.
Fraser brings decades of global investment experience to the role, having built a reputation as a seasoned leader with a diverse track record in private equity.
In his new position, he will oversee OMERS’ global Private Equity platform, which includes both the Buyout and Private Capital groups, with a focus on a range of sectors and strategies.
The OMERS Private Equity portfolio manages approximately CAD27.5bn in assets, delivering a 10-year average net return of 9.2% as of the end of 2024.
Fraser joins OMERS from 65 Equity Partners US, where he was a founding partner of a multi-billion-dollar global private equity initiative backed by Temasek.
Prior to this, he was a Partner at Bridgepoint, where he played a key role in launching the firm’s San Francisco office, co-leading its technology investments, and managing relationships with select US-based LPs.
Fraser also spent over 16 years at GI Partners, where he held various investment roles and contributed to the firm’s growth in the private equity sector.
