Credit-oriented private equity firm Orion Energy Partners has added several key hires in its New York and Houston offices, including key additions in investor relations, investments, risk optimisation and business development.
Reyno Norval, Managing Director, Investor Relations and Business Development joins Orion Energy with more than a decade of experience in the energy infrastructure industry across private equity advisory, capital raising, business development and principal investing. He spent the last three years working very closely with the Orion Energy team as Director at Asante Capital including playing a leadership role on the capital raise of Orion Energy Credit Opportunities Fund II. Prior to that Reyno advised institutional investors on energy and infrastructure fund investments and co-investments at Altius Associates, and was also a principal for two energy companies, EDF Energy and Green Gas International.
“We are delighted to officially welcome Reyno to our team after working very closely with him for the last three years. Our team has been impressed with Reyno’s unique background that encompasses principal investing in energy infrastructure as a direct investor and as a limited partner, coupled with his in-depth knowledge of the institutional investor market, all of which will be great additions to Orion Energy,” says Nazar Massouh, CEO and Managing Partner. “We would also like to thank the Asante Capital team for their strong support of Orion Energy to date including our decision to invite Reyno to become a full-time member of the Orion Energy team.”
Complementing the Orion Energy investment team in New York City are the following individuals who joined in Q3 2018.
Sue Yang, Senior Associate, brings principal investing experience in the power, midstream and transportation sectors to Orion Energy after spending the last three years working at Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets. Prior to joining the Macquarie team in 2015, Yang spent three years with McKinsey & Company, where she worked on engagements across infrastructure, real estate, industrials, banking, and private equity.
Aaqeeb Dhukka, Associate, was previously in the energy investment banking group at Evercore in Houston, Texas, where he was involved in a wide variety of M&A, financing and restructuring transactions for clients across the midstream, upstream and oil field services sectors.
“We remain dedicated to the expansion of our investment team as the firm continues to take advantage of our organically originated deal flow in the middle market energy infrastructure sector,” says Gerrit Nicholas, Managing Partner.
As part of its continued expansion of the Houston office, in August 2018 Orion Energy also welcomed a key hire in the risk management function.
Josh Shishkoff, Senior Associate, joins Orion Energy with extensive experience in energy investing, risk management and commercial optimisation as a strategist in the commodities group at Goldman Sachs, where he worked closely with Rui Viana, Head of Risk Optimisation at Orion Energy. “Orion Energy is unique across middle market investment firms with our focus on, and differentiated approach to, risk management and optimisation which is integrated into our investment evaluation and portfolio management. Josh’s hire as a key employee in our Houston office, and his sophisticated understanding of risk, will further enhance our quantitative capabilities in risk optimisation as our portfolio continues to grow,” says Rui Viana, Managing Director and Head of Risk Optimisation.
