Orrick adds M&A partner to New York Corporate Group

Orrick has appointed David Schwartz as a partner in New York. Schwartz brings extensive experience in corporate and securities law, with a primary focus on M&A transactions for technology and life sciences companies.

Schwartz is the 11th partner to join Orrick’s M&A practice in the past two years, a practice that ranked No13 for global M&A volume last year (Mergermarket).

“David has deep experience in sophisticated transactions,” says Ed Batts, Global Head of Orrick’s M&A and Private Equity practice. “He has established himself as a rising star in both buy- and sell-side transactions in the tech and life sciences sectors.”

Schwartz advises clients in complex M&A transactions – both private and public deals – including hostile and negotiated transactions, special committee representations and affiliated transactions, and corporate defence advice and proxy contests. His experience includes domestic and cross-border transactions and buy-side and sell-side representations. He also counsels clients on corporate governance, securities law and compliance obligations.

“Orrick has built a tremendous global corporate platform, and I am excited to help grow the practice in New York and globally,” says Schwartz. “The firm’s focus on the technology, energy & infrastructure and finance sectors, its commitment to building value-added global client relationships, and its innovative approach to service delivery are a perfect match for the way I approach my practice.”

Clients for which Schwartz has acted include Chiltern, Innogenix, Epic Pharma, Merck, Cipla Limited, Maersk/APM, Seacor Holdings, Comverse Technology and EMC Corp. He joins Orrick from Hughes Hubbard & Reed.
