Orrick has appointed Ali Ramadan as a partner in the firm’s Technology Companies Group, resident in the London office. Ramadan is the sixth partner and 20th lawyer to join Orrick’s London Technology Companies team.
The Orrick team has ranked No1 for European venture capital volume for the past seven quarters and ranks No1 for venture-backed exits according to Pitchbook. In addition, the Orrick team was recently recognised as 2017 Service Provider of the Year by Investor AllStars.

Ramadan, previously a partner with Bird & Bird in London, focuses on advising start-ups, growth companies and investors (both institutional and corporate) in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity transactions in the tech ecosystem. In 2016, Financial Times selected him as a Young Legal Innovator of the Year for creating a digital growth accelerator. Chambers UK ranks him as “Up and Coming” and Legal 500 UK singles him out as a “Notable Practitioner.”

Ramadan’s arrival follows the 2017 additions to Orrick’s London tech team of Jacqui Hatfield, a leading advisor on UK and European Fintech and payments regulation from Reed Smith, in September, and Ylan Steiner, the former head of the London VC team at King & Wood Mallesons, in January.
Orrick recently supported the “State of European Tech” report, published by Atomico, a leading venture capital firm, and Slush, alongside Silicon Valley Bank.
