Spanish biotech VC firm Ysios Capital has held a first close of its third fund, Ysios BioFund III, at EUR155 million.
The fund has a final target size of EUR200 million. Ysios Capital is the largest venture capital firm in Spain specialised in biotechnology with EUR346 million under management through three funds; Ysios BioFund I, Ysios BioFund II Innvierte and Ysios BioFund III. The firm expects to close four new investments shortly.

EQT Ventures has added deal partner Rania Belkahia to its team in the firm’s new Paris office.
With the opening of the new office in France, EQT Ventures now has teams on the ground in Paris, San Francisco, Berlin, Stockholm, London and Amsterdam. The firm’s current French portfolio companies include Tinyclues and Calldesk.
“The EQT Ventures team is delighted to have Rania on board to lead our search for exceptional founders in France and drive our ‘locals with locals’ approach from the new Paris office,” said Alastair Mitchell, partner and investment advisor at EQT Ventures.

BlackRock Private Equity Partners, Aberdeen Standard Investments, Neuberger Berman, Investment Corporation of Dubai and RSIC are becoming minority shareholders in Nordic Capital-owned Trustly, an online account-to-account payments provider.
Nordic Capital remains the majority shareholder in Trustly, which it acquired in 2018. The deal will bring in additional long-term capital to support the company as it continues to invest in its products, infrastructure and expand globally, according to Nordic Capital.

Triple Point has launched an initiative to help new start-ups, in recognition of the role innovation and technology will play in the UK’s economic recovery.
Triple Point’s investment initiative, called Kick Start, is designed to target the very early stage businesses that have yet to raise funding. It will be led by the firm’s VC funds team and invest ticket sizes of between GBP100-GBP150,000 in companies with pre-money valuations of between GBP1 million-GBP1.5 million, usually as the first external money into the startup.

BNP Paribas, China Investment Corporation (CIC) and Eurazeo have held a first close of their France-China Cooperation Fund on EUR400 million.
The fund, which will be managed by Eurazeo, manifests plans set out last year, including a letter of intent signed in the presence of China’s and France’s presidents Xi Jinping and Emmanuel Macron. It will be seeking investment opportunities alongside Eurazeo’s middle market buyout strategies; Eurazeo Capital and Eurazeo PME.
The fund, which is underwritten entirely by the BNP Paribas Group, CIC and Eurazeo, will invest in French and continental European companies that are aiming to grow in China.
