Palatine strengthens London team with new hire

Palatine Private Equity has appointed Rupert Brown as Investment Manager as the firm looks to increase the investment capacity of the southern team.

Brown joins from NBGI Private Equity where he spent over four years in the UK investment team working on a number of acquisitions, including ATR Group and Horizon Care, and holding several board positions. Rupert, who is a qualified Chartered Accountant, started his career at PwC where he worked on a variety of private equity transactions and financial restructurings.

Brown will work alongside Palatine Partner Tony Dickin and Investment Director Andy Strickland in the London office.  In the summer of 2015, Palatine announced the closing of its third fund at a total of GBP220 million and they have recruited Rupert to assist in the investment of the fund.  2015 was a busy year for the firm as a whole with four new deals and three exits completed as well as the exchange of contracts of a fourth exit.

Formed in 2005, Palatine typically invests between GBP10 million and GBP30 million into growing entrepreneurial businesses. The firm has offices in Manchester and London and recently launched in Birmingham to develop its presence across the Midlands.

Brown says: “Palatine has a strong reputation in the marketplace and an excellent track record of backing quality management teams. What makes the firm stand out is the hands-on approach adopted and the excellent relationships it has with its investee companies. With Palatine recently closing its third fund and launching its Birmingham office, now is an exciting time to be joining the team.”

Tony Dickin, Partner at Palatine Private Equity, adds: “We’re seeing increased appetite from business owners across the southern regions and our pipeline is strong, so we’re delighted to have Rupert on board. His ability to execute new deals, coupled with his portfolio management experience across a range of sectors, will be a valuable addition to the London team.”
