Partners Group, a Switzerland-based global alternative asset manager, has made two senior management promotions as well as some organisational changes.
The firm has promoted the following two members of the management team from senior vice presidents to managing directors: Roland Käslin, head finance, and Denis O’Malley, head Guernsey.
Partners Group has made some changes in the organisational structure of the firm, which will take effect as of 1 January 2010.
Following the successful development of the private real estate business to become a global asset management practice, it has become an independent department reporting directly to the executive board.
The new private real estate department, formerly included in the private capital department headed by Dr. Stephan Schäli (pictured), will be headed by Pam Alsterlind and Claude Angéloz.
Alsterlind, based in San Francisco, will join the executive board of the firm, which comprises key management representatives in Europe, Asia and the US, as of 1 January 2010.
Schäli will remain head of the private equity department and a member of the executive board.
Partners Group continues to focus on the strategic development of the firm’s global operations business and has made extensive progress in the building of the firm’s main operational hub in Singapore. A newly created product operations department will be headed by Kurt Birchler, formerly chief financial officer, who will be charged with the further build-up of this global division in its two main locations Zug and Singapore.
As previously announced, Dr. Cyrill Wipfli will replace Birchler on the executive board as chief financial officer as of 1 January 2010, while Birchler remains a member of the executive board in his new role.
In addition, the alternative beta strategies business, including insurance-linked securities, will be spun out. The new set-up allows a larger degree of independence for a business which is separate from Partners Group’s core activities, yet will preserve institutional backing as Partners Group will retain a majority shareholding in this new venture.
The current alternative beta strategies team, led by Dr. Lars Jaeger, will become holders of a significant equity stake.
