Patriarch names Howard Yellen executive vice president

Private equity firm Patriarch Partners has appointed Brigadier General (Retired) Howard W.

Private equity firm Patriarch Partners has appointed Brigadier General (Retired) Howard W. Yellen as an executive vice president to lead its newly created defence and interagency platform, effective 20 July 2009.

Yellen will provide executive oversight, coordinate strategic initiatives, and exercise selected management control for Patriarch portfolio companies that possess business opportunities with the Department of Defense and other federal agencies.

"I am thrilled to add General Yellen to our powerful lineup of senior platform leaders that create tremendous synergies between companies and industries. I have searched long and hard for a leader like Howard to command, combine and create opportunities for our OEM operating companies in the defense and government arena. We are living in difficult times and the added leadership of a great warrior will help inspire us all in the battle to rebuild America," says Lynn Tilton, chief executive of Patriarch Partners.

"I am excited to join the Patriarch Partners team in this new capacity and very enthusiastic about the opportunities and enormous potential this new Platform possesses," adds Yellen. "I look forward to being a part of a team that will provide value to our DoD and Interagency customers."

Yellen was formerly with L-3 Communications where he was the general manager for Global Military Aircraft Systems and most recently their vice president for business development (strategic pursuits).

Yellen possesses more than 33 years active duty experience with the US Army where he served in senior leadership positions including deputy commanding general for US Army Special Operations Command at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, chief of staff for the US Special Operations Command, and commander of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.
