Permira Prepares for $4bn sale of financial data firm Octus

Private equity firm Permira is preparing for a potential $4bn sale of Octus, the financial data and intelligence provider formerly known as Reorg, according to a report by Reuters citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.

The London-based buyout group has begun early discussions with investment banks ahead of a possible auction process in 2026, seeking to capitalise on heightened investor appetite for data-driven assets. Two sources suggested the valuation could exceed $4bn, reflecting strong demand for information providers whose datasets are increasingly used to power AI models and enhance financial technology products.

Permira, which acquired Reorg in 2022 and rebranded it as Octus in 2024, has focused on expanding the company’s global reach and data capabilities across credit markets and restructuring intelligence.

Both Permira and Octus declined to comment.
