Peter Baumgartner joins Vestar Capital Partners in Munich

Peter Baumgartner has joined Vestar Resources, the team of professionals who serve as strategic, operational, and organisational advisors for the portfolio company management teams of private equity firm Vestar Capital Partners. Based in the firm’s Munich office, he will focus on assisting companies in Vestar’s European investment portfolio.

Baumgartner brings to Vestar 27 years’ experience in management consulting, largely in the manufacturing and diversified industries sector, most recently as a partner and managing director at Mercer/Oliver Wyman.

During a 15-year career at Mercer, Baumgartner headed the Central European office, ran both the global manufacturing/automotive and talent management/marketing units, and was most recently the head of the manufacturing, transportation and energy division comprising 130 partners in 25 offices.

Vestar’s investment strategy is targeted toward companies in the US, Europe and Japan valued at between USD100m and USD5bn. Since its establishment in 1988, Vestar funds have completed over 65 investments in companies with a total value of more than USD30bn. The firm currently manages funds with committed capital totalling some USD7bn and has offices or affiliates in New York, Denver, Boston, Paris, Milan, Munich and Tokyo.
