Heron View Partners (HVP) has formally launched as an independent private equity firm following the separation of its investment team from PineBridge Investments, after PineBridge was acquired by MetLife Investment Management.
The New York-based firm will operate as a standalone platform under the ownership of Hong Kong-headquartered Pacific Century Group (PCG). Heron View Partners focuses on lower middle market private equity investments globally.
HVP represents the continuation of a private equity business founded more than 25 years ago by Steven N Costabile, who originally established the strategy at American International Group before later building it within PineBridge Investments. The team has maintained continuity in its investment approach and sector focus despite the corporate transition.
The firm targets control and influential minority investments across North America, Europe and Asia, with a focus on founder-led and family-owned businesses in defensive growth sectors. HVP typically partners with management teams to support operational improvements, international expansion and strategic acquisitions.
The spin-out follows MetLife Investment Management’s acquisition of PineBridge Investments, which prompted a reorganisation of PineBridge’s private equity activities. The Heron View team elected to establish an independent platform to continue executing its lower middle market strategy with dedicated capital and governance.
Pacific Century Group, a long-term investor across private equity, credit and real assets, will provide strategic backing and capital support as HVP scales its standalone operations.
Steven Costabile, Founder and Managing Partner of Heron View Partners, said the launch marks a new chapter for the team, allowing it to operate with greater flexibility while building on a long-established investment track record.
Heron View Partners is expected to continue investing globally while leveraging its existing relationships with management teams, intermediaries and co-investment partners across its target markets.
