IHS Markit signs Serena to private markets platform

French venture capital firm Serena has chosen IHS Markit’s iLEVEL platform to collect, monitor, and report on portfolio data for the company’s EUR300 million portfolio.

Serena, which was founded in 2008 and focuses on early growth start-ups that bring disruption through digital innovations, will also use iLEVEL to automate reporting and add efficiencies to the workflow. The combined advantages of a streamlined workflow and enhanced data management will support the firm in continuing to scale operations while meeting the increased demands for timely and detailed reporting.

“As the first European firm with a fund dedicated to big data and artificial intelligence, we recognise how important data-driven insights are in supporting innovation and providing a competitive advantage,” says Charles Rousset, Operating Partner and CFO at Serena. “iLEVEL ensures that everyone at Serena can access portfolio and performance data in real time so that we can optimise portfolio performance and demonstrate value creation more effectively.”

“We are delighted to welcome Serena to Ipreo’s expanding European client base,” says Melissa Ferraz, Managing Director, Global Head of Client Development of Ipreo Private Capital Markets division. “As a firm that supports data-driven businesses, Serena will now be able to use their own portfolio data to accelerate new levels of performance through advanced monitoring, analytics, and reporting.”

Nearly 60 private equity and venture capital firms in 11 European countries now use iLEVEL, Qval, and other services from IHS Markit that are tailored to improve portfolio monitoring, reporting and valuations in private markets.

Serena joins hundreds of private market investors globally that leverage the iLEVEL cloud platform to centralise and employ their data to drive the entire investment lifecycle, including fundraising, reporting, investment insights, compliance, and valuation.
