Peng Yu is rejoining International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP as a partner in its Global Private Equity Group, based in the Hong Kong office. Peng rejoins Weil from Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he was a partner in Hong Kong.
Peng originally began his career at Weil in Hong Kong and becomes the 18th partner to return to the firm since the start of 2023.
Peng specialises exclusively in private equity and mergers and acquisitions, advising global and regional clients on a broad range of transactions including buyouts, take-privates, PIPEs, growth capital investments, divestitures, joint ventures and other cross-border deals, particularly those involving China.
Weil’s Private Equity practice advises more than 300 funds globally, including middle-market buyout firms as well as many of the largest private equity funds worldwide. The firm’s Hong Kong office focuses on high-stakes transactional work across Asia-Pacific, covering China, India, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and Australia/New Zealand, and advising on multi-jurisdictional cross-border deals spanning North America, Europe, and Asia.
