Real Madrid to borrow $390m in private debt market

Real Madrid is planning on borrowing $390m from institutional investors to finance the renovation of its Santiago Bernabeu stadium, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter, the report said that the football club plans on repaying the debt using revenues from future ticket sales. As the club is owned by its members, the borrowing will need to be approved in an assembly meeting.

The report also noted that the club’s rival FC Barcelona had recently borrowed €1.5bn from private debt investors to finance a similar stadium revamp.
