Private equity firm Riverside has strengthened its European team with the appointment of Vincent Daelemans as vice president of origination for Benelux and France.
Daelemans joins Riverside from Tesco, where he was business development manager.
Based in Riverside’s European headquarters in Brussels, the Belgian national will be responsible for driving the sourcing of new quality deals with investment bankers, brokers, financial intermediaries, and larger corporations in the French and Benelux markets.
He will work in concert with the origination team across Europe and globally in order to ensure stronger focus for Riverside in France and Benelux. His responsibilities will include segmenting and prioritising deal sources, building and maintaining relationships with intermediaries and buy-side brokers and finding proprietary deals.
“We are constantly on the lookout for deals to expand our European portfolio and it is a priority for us to have sufficient dedicated resources to efficiently source and evaluate new investment opportunities within the region. The addition of a vice president of origination for France and Benelux will allow us to gain even stronger focus in two of our key strategic markets, and Vincent will play a vital role in enhancing our mindshare and presence in these countries,” says Karsten Langer, transacting partner for Benelux and France at Riverside.
During his time at Tesco, Daelemans negotiated several acquisitions including the acquisition of KSS Retail by Dunnhumby. In addition, he was responsible for the analysis of potential acquisition targets such as supermarket chains as well as targets beyond Tesco’s core business.
Prior to his tenure at Tesco, Daelemans was hired by UBS’s mergers and acquisitions group to advise Rhône Capital on the sale of LWB Refractories to Magnesita and Asda on the sale of Gazeley.
He has also been engaged with Morgan Stanley as a corporate finance analyst in the M&A group and energy and utilities group.
Daelemans is also the co-founder and former partner of DVDPost, an online DVD rental company in Europe.
