Roark Capital-backed sandwich giant Subway has named Jonathan Fitzpatrick, a seasoned fast-food executive, as its new CEO effective 28 July, with a mandate to drive global expansion and accelerate top-line growth, according to a report by Reuters.
Fitzpatrick brings extensive industry expertise, having most recently served as President and CEO of automotive services platform Driven Brands, alongside senior leadership roles at Burger King, including EVP and Chief Brand and Operations Officer.
Subway, which operates nearly 37,000 locations worldwide, was acquired by the private equity firm approximately two years ago in a transaction valuing the company at up to $9.55bn, inclusive of debt.
Fitzpatrick succeeds John Chidsey, who stepped down at the end of 2024 after five years leading the business under Roark’s stewardship. He will partner with interim CEO Carrie Walsh during the transition period.
