Rutland Partners, a turnaround and restructuring investor, has appointed James Barrington-Wells as investment executive.
Barrington-Wells is a graduate of biological science from Edinburgh University who qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte in 2009 and subsequently worked in their audit and corporate finance divisions for three years. During this time he worked on a variety of buy-side and sell-side transactions in multiple sectors including consumer business, technology and manufacturing.
This appointment further develops the Rutland team which has included the recent recruitment of Michael Reynolds from Hawkpoint Partners in July. It brings Rutland’s investing team to a total of 13 investment professionals.
Rutland’s primary focus remains investing in underperforming UK companies to create stability, strategic change and improved performance. Recent transactions include the sales of NoteMachine (an ATM operator) to Corsair Capital, Pulse Home Products (a supplier of small branded domestic appliances) to Jarden Corporation and Attends Healthcare (a provider of branded and own label incontinence products) to Domtar Corporation.
Michael Langdon, chairman of Rutland Partners, says: “James is a welcome addition to the team; he will bring valuable transaction experience across a variety of sectors and deal types and this will benefit the team as we continue to invest Rutland Fund II.”
