AC Milan owner RedBird Capital Partners is teaming up with Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds and other investors to acquire a 24% stake in the Alpine Formula One racing team, in a deal that values the Renault-backed group at $900 million, according to a report by The Financial Times.
The report cites Alpine as confirming that Reynolds’ Maximum Effort Investments, comedy writer Rob McElhenney, and actor Michael B Jordan have agreed to invest €200 million in the team alongside US-based Otro Capital and RedBird.
RedBird is already a ‘team player’ in terms of sporting investments having acquired Serie A giants AC Milan for €1.2 billion in August last year, while Reynolds and McElhenney are also involved in European football – albeit a few divisions below Milan – having purchased then National League side Wrexham FC in November 2020.
