WI Harper Group, a Chinese expansion and early growth stage private equity firm, has appointed Savio Tung, founding partner and chairman of the technology investment committee of Investcorp, to its advisory board.

Tung will counsel WI Harper on building its investment platform and on major market trends and investment strategies in Asia and the US.

"Today’s global investment community is increasingly focused on China to drive growth in their portfolios. WI Harper is a well-established leader in expansion and early growth capital in that region," says Peter Liu, founder and chairman, WI Harper. "Savio Tung has built global private equity powerhouses from the ground up. We are proud he is lending WI Harper his expertise, business acumen and industry knowledge to strengthen our investment platform and identify new trends and opportunities – ultimately enhancing returns to our investors."

Tung is one of the founding partners of Investcorp. He was a managing partner and head of the technology investment group and is currently chairman of the technology investment committee. He has been involved with most of the corporate buyouts carried out at Investcorp during his over 20 years with the firm.

Before joining Investcorp in 1984, he was a senior banker with Chase Manhattan Bank and worked at its offices in New York, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and London. He played a key role in establishing Chase’s Bahrain office and its marketing presence in the Gulf.
