Scoreloop has closed a EUR2m financing round by new investor Earlybird Venture Capital and existing investor Target Partners.
The funding aims to further fuel Scoreloop’s growth as an infrastructure provider for mobile social gaming for both indie and large game developers and publishers.
Scoreloop does not create its own games, but instead focuses on partnering with game developers and publishers providing them mobile social gaming technologies that build community and drive game discovery. Since launching its technology in May 2009, Scoreloop has over 500 registered game developers that have published more than 40 Scoreloop enabled games in the Apple App Store.
Scoreloop currently supports games on the iPhone platform. The funding will be used to further develop the technology, go cross-platform and continue the focus on international business development with larger publishers and portals.
Scoreloop was founded in 2008 by Marc Gumpinger, Dominik Westner and Christian van der Leeden. In addition to its Munich Germany headquarters, Scoreloop has teams in the US and Asia.
‘We are continuously receiving excellent feedback from game developers and publishers, as Scoreloop offers a unique set of tools for social features and monetization strategies. We are thrilled to be working with two of Europe’s premier and best-networked VCs with Earlybird as an additional partner beside our existing investor Target Partners. We jointly aim to further increase our growth and to ensure an ideal market position for the company,’ says Gumpinger.
Roland Manger, managing partner at Earlybird, says: ‘Scoreloop’s technology and the community platform solve many problems both developers and users are facing in the mobile app-world. Scoreloop will help developers make their games more attractive while improving monetization and users will be able to find games relevant to them much quicker.’
