New York-based asset manager Silar Advisors has appointed of Suzanne Currie as managing director to manage the firm’s business development and client communication efforts.

Currie joins Silar from Dominick & Dominick, where she was managing director heading up the alternative strategies group.

Her responsibilities focused on sourcing, due diligence and capital raising objectives for pan-Asian and private equity managers and subsequent marketing to both in-house financial advisors and institutional investors.

Previously, she served for three years as chief relationship officer at Shelterwood Financial Services, where she was a founding member of management for this multi-client family office for high-net-worth families.

Given the current economic environment, Silar is focused on finding new and profitable ways to lend to small businesses that involve less risk, which we are accomplishing through strategic partnerships with innovative lenders.’

Currie adds: ‘Silar represents a dynamic new force in the asset-based lending field, and I look forward to building on the success the firm has already achieved. Working in concert with our strategic partners, Silar’s unique lending model can provide attractive capital to small businesses, which are central to the US economy and are facing difficultly obtaining loans.’
