Silk Road launches Africa Asia Capital to focus on Mozambique

Silk Road Finance has launched Africa Asia Capital, a Mozambique-focused corporate finance advisory firm.

 
The new Mozambique-dedicated venture has a mandate to facilitate both foreign strategic and portfolio investments in Mozambique and advice national institutions and companies on raising capital internationally, primarily in Asia.
 
Recent discoveries of massive natural gas and coal resources are set to transform Mozambique into an economic powerhouse in Africa. With unprecedented discoveries of natural gas in the offshore Rovuma basin, Mozambique is set to become the major global LNG producer with the first deliveries starting from 2018. Its strategic location in East Africa should allow Mozambique to rival Qatar and Australia in supplying energy to the largest economies in Asia such as China, Japan, India and Korea. 
 
Alisher Ali, founder and chairman of Silk Road Finance, says: “We are very bullish on Mozambique’s massive economic potential and estimate that country’s GDP to rise from current USD14bn to USD150bn by 2025.  We are very pleased to establish Africa Asia Capital in order to facilite actively foreign direct and portfolio investments across various sectors in Mozambique.
