US-based private investment firm SK Capital is to acquire a majority stake in Swixx Biopharma from HBM Healthcare Investments AG and other investors including PE firm Mérieux Equity Partners in a deal that values the pharmaceutical services group at over €1.5bn.
SK Capital has reportedly secured financing from alternative asset manager Ares, to support the acquisition.
Swixx Biopharma is a full-service partner for biopharmaceutical companies, provides regulatory, distribution, logistics, market access, patient support, sales, marketing, and pharmacovigilance services. Since Mérieux Equity Partners’ initial investment in 2021, the company has expanded from Central and Eastern Europe into Latin America and the MENA region, growing revenues from approximately €220m in 2021 to an expected €1.3bn in 2026.
Its growth has been driven by new contracts with major pharma players, including Sanofi and Lundbeck, and accelerated by the 2024 acquisition of Biopas.
The sellers will retain a minority stake in the business post-transaction.
