International Private Equity Services, which was founded a decade ago in Guernsey and provides specialist administration services to more than 290 private equity funds, has opened a new office in Jersey.

The IPES (Jersey) team is headed by managing director Andrew Mason, who began his career with Coutts and has more than 22 years’ experience in the Jersey financial services sector, specialising in private equity and mezzanine fund administration.

Mason recently joined IPES from Kleinwort Benson and sits on the committee of the Jersey Funds Association. He is joined in the new office by director Anna Carrington, who is a charted secretary and has more than 15 years of financial services administration experience.

‘I am delighted by the opportunity to join IPES and broaden their product offering to include Jersey,’ Mason says. ‘The private equity sector is a dynamic and growing one, despite the recent credit crunch. I believe that our Jersey team is perfectly positioned to drive the business forward with our combined expertise and the backing of a service oriented organisation in IPES.’

IPES executive chairman, Connie Helyar says: ‘The company’s growth in Guernsey and London has been phenomenal over the past 10 years, and we are confident this success will continue with our Jersey operation.’

Chief operating officer Kevin Brennan adds: ‘Jersey is a very important location, providing a quality regulatory regime and an experienced pool of skilled professionals. We have many competitors already here, and we are very happy to be able to offer our services as a further choice to both incumbent and inbound investor groups. To be able now to promote both Jersey and Guernsey to the market is a very significant step forward for us.’

The IPES Group employs more than 100 people in Guernsey and London and is currently ranked one of the island’s largest fund administrators by Lipper Fitzrovia, administering funds with a combined value of USD36bn. The firm’s client base includes leading buyout houses, venture capital groups, fund of funds and start-up operations.
