International law firm Taylor Wessing has enhanced its London private equity practice with the appointment of Duncan McDonald as partner.

The appointment McDonald, who joins from Olswang, brings the number of dedicated private equity lawyers in Taylor Wessing’s London team to 20.

McDonald is a highly experienced international private equity lawyer with an extensive track record in advising sponsors, management teams and companies on management buy-outs and buy-ins, portfolio company transactions, exits and growth capital deals. He also specialises in domestic and cross-border M&A and joint ventures.

McDonald brings deep experience across a wide range of sectors, including hotel and leisure, environmental, aerospace, technology and construction industries. Clients he has advised include Better Capital, Chamonix Private Equity, NBGI Private Equity, OPTrust Private Markets Group, Sony and Hexagon.

McDonald says: "I am very pleased to be joining Taylor Wessing with its well-established mid-market private equity team and international reach. It is going to provide a great platform to grow the support and offering we can give to our respective clients and I am really looking forward to becoming part of the team.”

James Goold, head of private equity, adds: “Duncan's wide-ranging expertise and depth of experience across the range of capital investment and M&A transactions will be a tremendous asset for the private equity practice and the firm as a whole. We're very excited to welcome Duncan to the team. His arrival will further consolidate our leading position in the UK and international private equity mid-market. When taken together with our separate corporate team focussing on venture and growth capital transactions, we are proud to offer one of the deepest benches in the City for the capital investment community across the whole value range."
